How account tiers and limits work.
Every account has a resource cap in five areas: VPS count, vCPUs, RAM, disk and IP addresses. The more prepaid balance you keep on your account, the higher the cap goes, automatically. You don't need to ask or wait for approval.

Five limits in every tier
Your tier sets the most infrastructure you can hold at once. It counts every VPS, standalone volume and standalone IP you own, added together.

Add funds before your first server
Your account gets a $10 signup bonus after KYC. You can spend that credit, but it doesn't reach the $15 minimum balance needed to buy anything. That means no VPS, no IP and no volume, whatever a tier's limits say. Standard starts at the same amount, so crossing it unlocks purchases and puts you on your first tier at the same time.
In practice this takes one step. The smallest top-up is $10, which is more than the gap, so any first top-up takes you past the minimum.

An 8th state for accounts whose limits are agreed with our team and set by hand. It isn't linked to balance. Once an admin edits an account's limits directly, that account stops getting automatic upgrades and keeps those limits until an admin switches it back to automatic tiers.

How it works
Automatic upgrades, no automatic downgrades
Automatic
As soon as your balance crosses a tier's threshold, you qualify. There's nothing to request and no approval to wait for.
Checked in 3 places
Right after every successful payment, when you load this page or try to deploy, and in a daily background check that catches anything the first two missed.
Never downgrades
If your balance drops later, your tier and its limits stay where they are. Nothing is shrunk.
Two admin overrides
Accounts flagged is_trusted are capped at Premium whatever their balance. This is a separate, more cautious flag. Accounts with custom limits are taken off the tiers until they are reset.
Minimum balance
You need $15 for four actions
This applies on top of your tier's limits. Whatever tier you're on, you need this balance before you can buy anything.
This is the same amount as the Standard threshold, on purpose. We treat having enough for Standard and having enough to start buying as the same thing. That's why you can't deploy anything while on Starter (see above).
Downgrades are exempt. Resizing a VPS down, or anything else that reduces what you're using, is never blocked by this check, whatever your balance.

Frequently asked questions
No, it's automatic. As soon as your account balance crosses a tier's threshold, the higher limits apply. There's no form to fill in and no approval to wait for.
Your tier stays where it is. Tiers only move up automatically. A lower balance later never shrinks your limits or forces anything to be removed.
It's your account's default label before you add funds. It isn't a usable allowance. Starter does have resource limits in the system, but no balance is both above the purchase minimum and below Standard, so you can't deploy anything while on Starter. Standard is the first tier you can use.
Not quite. The $10 / ₹800 signup bonus doesn't reach the $15 / ₹1,000 minimum balance needed to buy anything. Add funds first. As soon as you pass that amount, you can start buying and you move up to Standard.
A flag our admins set by hand. It caps an account at Premium whatever its balance. It is separate from the normal balance-based tiers, and you can't turn it on yourself.
That's what the Custom state is for. Contact us and an admin can set limits for your account by hand, outside the normal tiers. After that, the account no longer upgrades automatically until an admin resets it.
No. The minimum-balance check only applies to actions that increase what you're using. Anything that reduces it, including resizing down, is always allowed whatever your balance.
