A virtual cloud server (VPS) is a virtual machine running on physical hardware. It works like its own computer, with its own kernel, IP and root access, without the cost of renting a whole machine.
Ours run on KVM virtualization. Compute, storage and IP addresses are separate pieces, so you can detach a boot volume or IP and move it to a different instance whenever you need to.
